Job Description

Brief Description of Role: We have a position for defendant professional indemnity solicitors in our London office. We are looking for candidates who can hit the ground running and manage their own caseload with little supervision. This role may also include supervising other more junior solicitors.

Team Information: This team advises on a broad range of non-marine insurance issues, the main focus of which is defendant professional negligence and coverage but also includes reinsurance, product liability, mining, financial lines and fine art and specie work for a variety of national and international insurers. This is one of the largest teams in the country with the majority of our partners and associates having experience in this field. With over thirty years experience in all areas of professional indemnity insurance, Kennedys has an enviable reputation and the skills required to service this increasingly complex market.

Our London based Professional Indemnity team is currently made up of 11 partners, two consultants, 25 assistants, 1 paralegal, four trainee solicitors and 12 support staff. The team also works closely with our Manchester, Belfast, Birmingham and Taunton offices.

Type of Clients: Kennedys acts for more than 50 insurers in relation to professional indemnity claims for surveyors, architects, engineers, accountants, solicitors and other professionals. The team also acts for financial institutions and reinsurers.

Type of Cases: The team act for insurers on a full range of claims from policy coverage disputes including non-disclosure, property damage and technical claims. In addition, Kennedys advises insurers on all matters relating to professional indemnity cover.

Essential: Strong Academics (2.1 or higher degree)
Desirable: UK Qualified Solicitors or Foreign Qualified Solicitor with the relevant experience.

Experience: (Type, length, quality, background)
Essential: 5 years' + Defendant Professional Indemnity claims experience gained in a firm well known for practising this area of law. *
Able to manage own caseload with minimal supervision.
Client contact and attendance at business development events.
Experience of arbitration and negotiation.

Desirable: Experience of professional indemnity claims across a wide range of professions.
Supervisory experience.
