Job Description

Pinsent Masons is an innovative and enterprising commercial law firm. We provide clients with the expertise and knowledge of over 2,500 staff in 18 international locations.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced property development lawyer to join our Birmingham Commercial Property team. We are ideally looking to recruit a candidate who has 6+ years post qualification experience.

We have the largest team of specialist real estate lawyers in the UK. When you instruct Pinsent Masons to act on your property transaction, you are tapping into the combined expertise of over 240 highly skilled lawyers, including many renowned experts. Clients praise us for our commercial approach, providing clear, relevant and timely advice.

Our breadth of experience coupled with our specialist knowledge means that, whether we are advising on a complex multi-million pound regeneration project, or arranging a quick sale or letting of a single building, our clients receive the legal support they require, when and how they want it.
We help developers and other public and private sector stakeholders create new communities and deliver landmark development schemes across the UK.

We help our clients successfully navigate the development process, from land assembly through planning, to construction and the letting/disposal of the finished product. In doing so, we draw on our expertise in all the necessary legal disciplines, including delivery vehicles/joint ventures, development constraints (including rights of light and vacant possession issues), planning, CPO, environmental, construction, tax, public procurement and local government law.

The Candidate we are looking for

The successful candidate will ideally have gained experience in a City firm or large regional / national practice. They will have a strong academic background and an outgoing personality. Candidates must also be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about, and demonstrate a track record of, business development. They will be a team player with a strong client focussed approach. They will also have excellent communication and organisational skills.

The successful candidate will be a 7+ years qualified property development lawyer, with significant experience in large scale public sector led regeneration projects. They will have undertaken, and led, a number of such projects and have a good appreciation of the procurement, planning, CPO, tax, construction and related issues such projects typically generate and comfortable working with specialist lawyers in these disciplines to deliver an integrated service to clients.
