Job Description

Our client, a global law firm is looking to recruit a Professional Support Lawyer in its Corporate Insurance team.

The purpose of the role will be to liaise with fee-earners involved in the Firm’s Corporate Insurance team with the aim of extracting and collating know-how, circulating it and translating it into precedents, practice notes and manuals.

The candidate’s responsibilities and main challenges will be

* Sorting, sharing and disseminating knowledge
* Critically reading items submitted for know-how potential and indexing the document to adequately reflect the content within established guidelines including allocating key words and legislative references.
* Identifying and circulating articles and other material relevant to the practice area.
* Liaising with fee-earners to ensure that know-how continues to meet the practice area’s needs
* Providing a referral point for the information officer[s] if they experience difficulty in handling more complex enquiries or in dealing with the indexing of transactions or know-how material.
* Working with the information officer[s] on the policies to be applied in organising the know-how system.
* Ensuring files and transaction bibles are up-to-date and are consistent.
* Creating new, and amending existing, manuals and precedents and associated documentation (e.g. drafting notes, special memoranda, checklists) in the light of worldwide practice developments and legal changes
* Liaising with fee-earners as to using their current documents as the basis of precedents and so as to ensure that precedents are available to meet the practice area’s needs.
* Preparation of periodic practice area newsletters, client publications and contributing articles to professional journals.
* Assisting in the preparation of conference papers, brochures and presentations and developing seminars for clients
* Contributing to the firm’s training courses by giving presentations and providing hand-outs.
* Developing legal training programmes for fee earners.

It’s essential that the candidate is -

* A self starter, keen to take ownership of the role and develop it within the context of the service
* Enthusiastic and resilient
* Have a good attention to detail
* Organised with a pragmatic approach
* Able to manage time effectively and prioritise
* Diplomatic
* Experienced of training development and delivery
* Able to train/guide users in the use of information sources
* Educated to degree standard
* Completed LPC and training contract or equivalent
* Admitted to the roll of England & Wales
* Has at least two years’ work experience as a fee-earner or a PSL in a Corporate Insurance.
* Experienced in client/business relationships
* Up to date in terms of market developments
